The company that owns the lodge we stayed in (Explorama) has done a lot to improve the conditions of schools and villages and has also built a 500 meter long elevated walkway to allow for research regarding the rain forest canopy (and more probably to be a tourist attraction). We did walk it and it was interesting. This is the second longest such walkway in the world, the longest being in Malaysia. Here are some pictures.

Carole and our guide, Celso, climbing up to the walkway.

Looks like this walkway is well secured. But, when we asked how often the ropes and all are inspected, the answer was “every 10 years, it was last done 4 years ago”. Leaves some room for thought.

The walkway gets as high as 119 feet above the ground, average once you get up is probably 90 or so feet.

Sort of narrow!!

That does it for the canopy walk. Celso asked whether we wanted to return to the start point by going back on the walk or on the ground, Harry decided it might be better on the ground.
