b. Lima Peru
We returned from Iquitos back to Lima, where we spent the night, meeting up with our group of 14 people the next morning. While we slept they spent the night traveling from Miami.
This is the Mariott Hotel where we stayed, a very nice very modern hotel.

The view from the room was outstanding except for the fog, which seems to be a constant factor in Lima.

In the morning we had the pleasure of meeting our Peru tour director and 14 very nice people whom we were to spend the next 2 weeks. Here is a group picture along with individual pictures. For some reason we missed one couple (sorry Nels and Helmi). If it looks like these people are castoffs from Gilligan’s Island, it is because there pix were taken in the Galapagos. It was nice that there was no group of previous friends so everyone sort of rotated at mealtime to get to know fellow travelers.

I guess this is the time to talk about our tour a little bit. We toured with a major tour company named Odysees Unlimited. They specialize in high quality, small group tours. Our normal day (unless traveling) started with 7:30 breakfast, tour starting around 9:00, back to hotel for lunch at 12:30, siesta til 3 or so, tour til 5:30 or 6, back to hotel for 7:30 supper. When we ate lunch while out on a tour, there was no siesta. We got very accustomed to eating way too much, and that ever-welcome siesta. Don’t be misled by all this, these were long, exciting (while ofter tiring) days.
We only had one day in Lima with much to see. We will break Lima into two sections, CityTour and the Herrera Museum.
