One point we should make about the structures we see in these pictures. The quide said that the stonework we have seen in only about 30% reconstructed. The remainder is original work.

Machu Picchu is an awesome place. Next to and towering over it is an equally impressive landmark called Waynapicchu. This mountain has ruins on it also, to include the Temple of the Moon. To get there requires major climbing using rope handholds. We passed on that opportunity.This is where one checks in to cross the bridge and climb Waynapicchu. This building has a thatched roof, as did all the buildings when Machu Picchu was occupied.

Unfortunately our time at Machu Picchu came to an end. We had an afternoon, a night, and the next morning to visit and enjoy the place. Truly an experience to remember!! Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
