The morning of our next to the last day in the Islands, we awoke to see this mountain in front of us. We were also informed that the morning activity would be to climb to the top.

There is a miniature lighthouse (a beacon) at top. Solar powered.

So, we got in our boats and rode to shore.

Lava flow.

This clump of stuff that looks like a good sized rock is called “ah”. It is lava which is full of holes formed by gas.. The piece probably weighed no more than a couple of pounds.

After descending the mountain, we sent snorkeling and swimming at the beach on the right of this photo.

This is the navigational beacon we saw from the boat.

In the center of the picture is the cone of an old volcano.

Our Ecuador tour director, Ramon Andrade. He went on the cruise and also guided us around Quito and the outlying area.

We rode through a pod of over 200 bottlenosed porpoises.
