The Meandering Melanders

05 Washington to Dawson Creek

We crossed the border into British Columbia, Canada, at Suma B.C. Easy crossing, agent’s main concern was guns. Do we have any with us? Do we own any? Answers no and yes. No search. The drive thru B.C. was beautiful. Lots of mountains, snow

Hope, B.C. has a nice park with lots of chainsaw log carvings.

The Fraser River.

Note the different water colors as Fraser and another river merge.

In Price George we planned on visiting their Railroad and Timber Industry Museum. Was opening the following day so settled on a heritage museum, mainly aimed at kids.

We passed thru Chetwynd which has very nice wood carvings, again by chainsaw. They consider themselves the capital of this art.

Our next stop was Dawson Creek, the start of the Alaska Highway, originally known as the Alcan Highway. We will start our next “chapter” of our BLOG with the first portion of that highway. Meanwhile some shots of the city. Except for the last picture, these are all murals located in the center of the city.

We hope you enjoyed these. Sorry for the variation in picture sizes. Having a problem and can only work online, but have bad wifi service.
